Japon PMI manufacturier

The au Jibun Bank Japan Manufacturing PMI was revised higher to 49.7 in September 2024 from a preliminary estimate of 49.6 and 49.8 in the previous month, marking the third straight month of contraction in factory activity. It also marked the seventh consecutive month of decline in the manufacturing sector this year, though the softest contraction since April, amid a renewed fall in production levels and a sustained drop in new orders, with export sales falling the most in six months. Employment increased fractionally while backlogs of work declined softer. Meanwhile, supplier delivery times deteriorated in September, marking the most lengthening since February, which encouraged firms to build stocks of purchased items for the first time in three months. On the price front, input price inflation eased to a five-month low while output price inflation slowed to the softest since June 2021. Finally, business sentiment weakened to the lowest since December 2022.
