Housing stars in the United States surged by 15.8% from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 1.499 Million units in December of 2024, the most since March 2021. It is the highest number of starts since February 2024, above market expectations of a softer increase to 1.320 Million. Starts for housing with five units or more surged to 418,000, a 58.9% jump from the previous month, while housing with a single unit edged higher by 3.3% to 1.05 Million.
