New orders for manufactured goods in the US fell 0.4% from the previous month to $586.1 billion in November 2024, above market expectations of a 0.3% decrease and after a 0.5% rise in October. Decreases were noted for durable goods-producing industries (-1.2%), led by transportation equipment (-3%), fabricated metal products (-1.7%) and computers and electronic products (-0.5%). On the other hand, orders increased for non-durable goods producers (0.4%). Excluding transportation, factory orders went up by 0.2%.
