New orders for US manufactured goods increased by 0.6% month-over-month in February 2025, following an upwardly revised 1.8% rise in January and slightly surpassing market expectations of a 0.5% increase. Demand for transportation equipment rose by 1.5% (compared to a 10.2% Jump in January), mainly due to defense aircraft and parts (9.2%) and motor vehicle bodies, parts, and trailers (1.9%). Demand was also up for computers and electrical equipment, appliances, and component (1.9% vs -0.6%), machinery (0.6% vs flat reading), fabricated metal products (0.9% vs -1.5%) and primary metals (1.2% vs 1.9%).
