The University of Michigan consumer sentiment for the US was revised higher to 67.9 in August 2024 from a preliminary reading of 67.8, but missed market expectations of 68. The current economic conditions gauge was revised higher to 61.3 from 60.9 while the expectations index was unchanged at 72.1. Inflation expectations for the year-ahead was revised lower to 2.8% from 2.9% and the five-year inflation outlook was steady at 3%.
