US crude oil inventories surged by 9.043 million barrels for the week ending February 7, 2025, following a sharp 9.04 million-barrel increase the previous week, according to the American Petroleum Institute's Weekly Statistical Bulletin. This marked the largest weekly gain since March and the fourth consecutive week of inventory increases, reversing five weeks of declines, significantly surpassing market expectations of a 2.8 million barrel build.
