The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Turkey fell to 8.2% in February 2025, down from 8.4% in January and below the 8.7% recorded a year earlier. It marked the lowest jobless rate since July 2012, as the number of unemployed individuals declined by 95 thousand to 2.886 million. Meanwhile, employment dropped by 149 thousand to a 13-month low of 32.314 million, lowering the employment rate to 48.8%, compared to 49.1% in January, pointing to the lowest since November 2023. The employment rate for men stood at 66%, while for women it was 31.9%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate decreased to 53.2% from 53.6%, reaching the lowest level since November 2023. On the other hand, the youth unemployment rate edged up to 15.0% from 14.9%, which was the lowest since July 2012.
