The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Taiwan edged higher to 3.38% in September 2024 from 3.36% in the previous month. This marked the highest jobless rate since April, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 4 thousand from a month earlier to 407 thousand, while employment rose by 1 thousand to 11.615 million. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 20 to 24 years old, eased to 12.14% in September 2024 from a one-year high of 12.21% in the prior month. The labor force participation rate edged up to 59.34% from 59.33% in August.
