The Swiss procure.ch PMI rose slightly to 47.5 in January 2025, up from 47 in December but below market expectations of 49. Employment improved, with a slowdown in job cuts pushing the employment component to 47.1. Production also gained but stayed in contraction at 48.5. Delivery times exceeded 50, possibly due to higher demand or slower supply chains. A stronger PMI rise was hindered by declines in order backlogs and purchasing inventories. Input prices edged up, nearing the growth threshold, with electronic components and cocoa becoming more expensive, while sugar prices fell.
