Annual inflation rate in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo fell to -0.8% in October 2024, extending last month's deflation of -0.5%, which marked the first deflationary period since March 1995. Prices fell for transport (-1.8% vs 0.8% in September 2024) and housing & utilities (-9.6% vs -8.4%), while it rebounded for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1% vs -0.3%) and clothing & footwear (1.1% vs 0.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined by 0.5%, after a 0.1% fall in September.
