The trade deficit in Israel narrowed to USD 1,645.4 million in August 2024 from USD 3,194.9 million in the same month last year, marking the lowest deficit since November 2020. Imports dopped sharply by 14% to USD 6,940 million, due to lower purchases of fuel (-46%), diamonds (-86%) and ships & aircrafts (-85%). Meanwhile, exports grew by 8.1% to USD 5,295 million, mainly driven by higher sales of manufacturing and mining & quarrying products excl. diamonds, which surged 10% year-on-year.
