Hong Kong’s seasonal adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3% in the three months ending August 2024, unchanged from the previous five periods. The number of unemployed persons rose by 4.5 thousand from a month earlier to 122.3 thousand, while employment decreased by 0.1 thousand to 3.708 million. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 20 to 29 years old, soared to 6.5% from 5.7% in the preceding month. The labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 57.2%.
