Zone euro Ventes au détail (mensuelles)

Eurozone retail trade fell by 0.3% month-over-month in January 2025, following two months of flat growth and missing market expectations of a 0.1% increase. Non-food product sales dropped by 0.7% after a 0.5% rise in December, while fuel sales declined by 0.3% for the second consecutive month. On the other hand, sales of food, drinks, and tobacco rose by 0.6%, reversing four months of either contraction or stagnation. Among the bloc’s largest economies, retail sales declined in Italy (-0.4%) and France (-0.1%), but saw growth in the Netherlands (1.6%) and Germany (0.1%).
